Our Fabrics

At Aurai Swimwear we pride ourselves on the fabrication of our garments, from working closely with our small atelier in Brazil, to ensuring that each piece can be created with minimal carbon footprint whilst maintaining high quality.

Fabrication - Our Swimwear is made from Amni Eco Soul - CO2control® the world's first biodegradable polyamide which has been developed and manufactured in Brazil using reclaimed water.

This revolutionary polyamide is created with an improved formulation that accelerates biodegradation in an oxygen-free environment, common in most landfills. Traditionally, a polyamide fibre takes decades to disintegrate. In tests, this yarn biodegraded by 50% in just over one year, meaning that by the end of its life, the impact on landfills will be reduced. Being a “smart yarn” the biodegradation of AMNI SOUL ECO® will only start when the fabric is in these conditions ie after disposal, in a landfill environment.

While our swimwear is been worn and washed, any microplastics that are released from the yarn are able to decompose 20x faster in a marine environment compared to other synthetic fibres.

90% Polyamide Nylon, 10% Elastane.

UPF* 80+ - This rating means that you are protected from UVA & UVB rays.
The Ultraviolet Protection Factor is a standard used to measure the effectiveness of sun protective fabrics. A UPF of 50+ blocks out 98% of UV rays when worn.

Hardware - All of our hardware is chrome and nickel free, won't peel or change colour over time and will not heat up whilst in the sun.

OEKO-TEX certified - Our Oeko-Tex certification is Standard 100, Class 1. This class has the strictest requirements and limit values and means that you can be certain that every component of this garment has been tested for harmful substances. The test is conducted by independent OEKO-TEX® partner institutes on the basis of an extensive OEKO-TEX® criteria catalog.

Care As this fabric is delicate, avoid rough surfaces like rocks & pool edges and be careful wearing jewellery to avoid snagging and catching.

To care for your swimwear, try to rinse off as soon as possible after spending time in salt water or chlorinated pools. Cold hand wash using a delicate liquid wash. Rinse the garment thoroughly in cool or warm water and lay flat to dry in the shade.

Do not dry clean, soak, tumble dry or iron.
